Plankization

It's free!

Plankization is a term coined by Very Simple Floor Border to name the process of converting a picture to a set of predominantly long polygons with two sides parallel. Plankized, plankizing and plankization are derivatives of two common words a plank, from which the floor is made and digitizing, that refers to more or less the same process with square, rather than rectangular or polygonal 'pixels' being used.
Clearly plankization is a computer aided process but it is labor intensive as well. This is so because final result needs to be judged by eye. There are two components that need to be fine tuned:

As a form of promotion, at this point of time, plankization is offered free. Just email or mail your picture and Very Simple Floor Border will send back to you the plankized drawing.

If you would like to get more details about the image that we plankized for you, such as exact dimension of every plank, angles the boards are cut at, in other words the inventory of boards needed reproduce the image, we would ask for a small fee. This fee is still below our cost.
Finally, Very Simple Floor Border is offering is to execute all steps, that is to install a plankized 'central piece' in your splendid room.

We do care to establish good relations with hardwood flooring contractors.
Plankized drawing can take 20 to 60 percent of the surface of the floor in one room. Remaining rooms will be, usually, left without central piece, so percentage-wise image is small part of job that needs to be done. Assembling the image will take extra time. This time, however, will vary considerably depending on complexity of the image. Most of the time this work will be done in places remote from our location. Therefore, the local hardwood flooring contractors are essential partners for us. They need to quote their additional labor directly to final customer at a local market rates.

Preparation of set of boards that hold plankized drawing takes a lot of work. Grooves and tongues need to be machined, inventory needs to be kept well organized and documented, drawing needs to be finally assembled and eventually fine tuned before shipping.
The time to transfer plankized drawing into a set of physical boards depends on complexity of the drawing but one needs to expect numerous days and a lead time in a range of weeks.

For the illustration see the a twelve-shade and a three-shade plankized drawing below.
